save price paid for games in my collection

I'd like to save how much I paid for a game when I add it to my collection.

a pretty cool idea actually :)

This would be great data to have.
If this got implemented, perhaps there could be an up or down arrow added when one views their collection to see if the game is worth more or less than what they purchased it at.

It would also be fun to have a "date purchased" field for the collection.

I love this idea, I currently add the price I paid into the Description field when adding to my collection but it's not searchable or visible unless I view the entry in my collection for that specific game.

All fakes are not created equal. Most of them have obvious fake things like it will be cut wrong and unstraight labels edges or just plain bad fake. But it's that 1% that look perfect indistinguishable from real almost no way to determine if the label is fake. And it's those that make me think has the game been perfectly reproduced because no one can tell not even vga and then imagine the market flooded with perfectly counterfeited game no one can tell.

I've never seen a repro that isn't obvious once it is opened up and tested.  Either the circuit board looks totally different than it should or the circuit looks the same but it plays a different game (board swap).  Fakes are definitely a pain in the butt, but they are noticeable.

Also, I'm going to delete this discussion in a day or two since it doesn't pertain to the topic.  If you want to continue it you can email me at sales@vgpc.com

Would be awesome, should be able to save the games in "lots" too, for when you've bought multiple games in one purchase. Maybe the site could even calculate the average paid for each game in the lot.

Also I think allowing you to record the date you purchased it would be good too so users can easily compare how prices change in the future.

I would like to be able to brows ur ads without having to sign up to do so. I think u would have more people buy ur products just based on the fact that we didn't feel like we were being forced to rather than wanting to.

What ads are you referring to?  Our site does not charge anything to look at the data or use most of the tools.  You only need to pay if you want to download the data or use premium features of the tools.

I've started work on this.  It is almost ready for some beta testers.  If you are interested in beta testing, please let me know by emailing us your collection url to sales@vgpc.com and say "Cost basis beta"

This feature is great, I'd like to request an update to it though and allow us to specify the currency when entering the original purchase price, as changing the price listings on the site between USD to GBP for example, isn't reflected in the original prices.

Thanks for this suggestion.  I'll make a note of that so we can support inputting prices in other currencies.  For now, all amounts should be submitted in USD.

this is a pretty nice feature, but please make it so we can gather stuff together and add one price, for when we buy a haul of different things. i do that a lot,and some cant really be easily divided per item (a purchase of a system with games and accessories for x price for example),so putting the price for the whole haul makes far more sense :)

How would that price be stored?  Right now the price paid is only associated with the individual items in your collection.

you could have the "cost" column be widened a bit and, next to the amount paid figure, add a clickable "+ X more Items" that leads you to a page with all the items bought for that price.

so if i bought, say, a system and 4 games and 2 extra controllers from a guy for 50$, the price you see on any of them will be 50$ and right next to it would be "+ 6 more items" that you can click to see everything that you bought for this 50$.

Cool idea.  That is very involved suggestion though.  If you want to create a new feature request for it I can then prioritize but it would take lots of backend work to make something like that possible.  Thanks for the input.
