Columns for sell price, shipping amount, and total cost when viewing historical prices

Since shipping costs are determined by the seller, I feel that there are a lot of times where there are items are seemingly sold at a lower price but once you factor in shipping, the total cost is more in line with the market. I believe shipping is something most people consider when buying a game and therefore, it would be great if it could be included as a column in the historical list prices.

This is my number one request for improving the data on PriceCharting. Shipping should be included by default in the historical prices that constitute the data points that generate the current market price for an item. Otherwise, historical and current eBay prices are not comparable to listings on PriceCharting (because PriceCharting marketplace listings already include shipping) and are not representative of the actual cost of items for buyers. Many eBay sellers "hide" much of the item cost in inflated shipping charges as an effort to mislead casual customers who don't realize the total cost until they are presented with it in when going to checkout.

Not to mention some people sell with "Free" shipping

this also skews data and leads to market prices decreasing. If someone sells a $200 item for $150 + $50 shipping. the prices history will slowly go down.

I don't even know how to sell with shipping that isn't free. It isn't obvious when listing a new item, how one could specify shipping.

I completely agree - I'm totally fine with PriceCharting maintaining "free shipping" as the de-facto standard, but I would also expect that shipping prices be somehow reflected in the cost of a card. It ESPECIALLY does NOT help when PriceCharting states they will automatically notify all Watchlist buyers if you price the card/pack/box below a certain price. That price DOES not take into account shipping. So sellers are being put at a disadvantage during the sell (lack of notifications) and then also having to front the shipping costs. OOOOF!

Most of our values for items include free shipping because most items that sell on eBay include free shipping.  So the values you see on our site are the value with shipping costs included.

Apologies for any naive comments I make here @Sales. I do not know the algorithms used to set pricing. That being said - when I list my 151 Booster Bundle (as of today), the price at which notifications are being sent to interested buyers is $66.78. However, when I look at ALL listed prices on TCG and Ebay, the pricing is >$71 with shipping of $4.99+. These are the sales/site factors I am blind to as a user:

  • price adjustments due to site "reputation" (ie. TCG, Ebay are known for sales, Pricecharting less so). Maybe Pricecharting is adding a fudge-factor to try and ensure a sale price is low enough to drive people to use pricecharting?
  • Price updating rate may lag actual market? This is the rate at which Pricecharting is updating recommended sale price based on market value - ie. prices do not reflect volatile price changes?
  • Other adjustments to pricing based on unknown parameters: There may be other parameters of a sale Pricecharting is using to establish the recommended sale price including time-to-sale, volume of sales at specific price points (although I'm seeing TCG/Ebay sale pricing is higher and does not include shipping), likelihood of positive user feedback based on sale price (not sure if PC is able to track this on other sites).

Anyways - appreciate your previous reply. Its great to see active developer interaction!
