Collection Groups or Multiple Collections

Alex C 4 years ago updated by sales 3 weeks ago 11

I’d really like to be able either group items in my collection with custom tags and still use all of the collection filters, tools, and stats. Or allow multiple collections.

I have a bunch of titles, systems, accessories etc that belong to family that I manage and keep track of but there isn’t an easy way too see those collections specifically or sort them. I can add a note, but then that is visible to everyone that sees my collection. It doesn’t make sense to create another account+email to manage it.

Current collections can be the default/primary collection for adding or viewing but also have the ability (if multiple collections) to change the default/primary collection. For multiple collections or groups would also necessitate a method for naming collections as well.

On our site, we use folders to keep your collection organized into different custom sections. You can call one folder "shelf 1" and one "shelf 2" and put the items into those folders. You can then filter your collection by folder to see only items in that folder and the total value of that folder too.

You make a separate account if you wanted as well, but that wouldn't give you the overall value.

I came here to recommend this feature and found this post. I would be another person who would use this feature.

Examples of groups could be also:

-Reversible cover games

-Only for New 3DS games

-Every version of skyrim physically released

-Every incredibly broken game that causes issues (such as ps2 demo disc Holiday 2004, with Viewtiful Joe 2 wiping all connected memory cards when section 1 beaten)

Would be great to have an option for mini descriptions to include why games are in xxx group/collection, such as described prior with Viewtiful Joe 2.

I'd also like to be able to categorise my collection or have more than one collection so I can differentiate between items I know I'm definitely keeping and those I'm willing to sell.

definitely need groups

This goes hand in hand with my comments on the subjects of adding purchase date & serial numbers. If we had the ability to add SNs, we could then group systems as we add or replace items such as controllers, expansion packs, Rumble Paks, etc, for management both physically and digitally.

BENEFITS:

1. Physical grouping - grouping by SN in the app helps us to track and identify which items go together and who "owns" the games without having to physically mark them.  This is especially helpful when when we have kids with their own systems (2 of my kids have an Xbox 360 and ALL of them have a DS, so we have a lot of duplicates) that really DO matter if they're tracked to prevent arguments.

2. Digital grouping - Our invested total per system should be expected to change as long as we continue to use it. Tracking the investment over time helps us to better understand our current investments and budget for and justify future releases. For example, If you know of an upcoming launch date, you can sort and view the history of your current system to reduce spending or even reverse it by selling lesser played games and accessories to reinvest in the upgrade.

3. Tracking total investments - When we add or replace accessories, we alter both the total investment and the current value of a system. This can be accurately captured in your app by adding serial numbers and a way to group them. First, add your new item to your collection, then add it to system's group. If this is an addition, you're done. If it's replacement a broken or sold item, see add'l steps below.

.  A  . Replacing sold item: Open the item and mark it sold (unless the system does that for you... I'm still new to selling on this site, so I haven't crossed that bridge yet.) This should remove it from your inventory and update your investment and profit totals automatically.

.  B  . Replacing broken/damaged items: Open item, then select "broken" from the checklist near thebtop of the page. This will change the suggested value to $0 while keeping the invested total. That's all you HAVE to do to keep these numbers straight, but I take a the following add'l steps. Open notes, then at the very beginning, type *BROKEN*. This will now appear in the notes preview to see at a glance.  Also in Notes, I record what was wrong, the disposition (repair, donate, sell for parts, or throw away), and SN of the replacement.

I really don’t understand why they haven’t added this feature…  I would love to be able to separate my collection by type or theme or even where it came from.

Say I want to downsize my collection and get rid of all my PS1 stuff, I wouldn’t want to be able to see just the stats for my PS1 stuff and not my entire collection.

Or maybe I inherited a collection and I wanted to make a separate collection for that.

They could just make it like iTunes or the Photos app on an iPhone.  All of you content is in the Library but then you can make specific playlists from there.  That would be such a nice feature.

Just wanted to chime in w/ further support for this idea - any large collection suddenly becomes a mess when all you can do is select 'Video Games' and some basic sorting functions.

This could all be accomplished easily with a custom labels feature. Then, you could create your own groups and if am item falls into more than one, it can wear both labels.

Is the ONLY solution to this to create multiple accounts?  Please respond.
