Only use ebay sold listings for pricing information, or just remove amazon

Anonymous 8 years ago updated by sales 2 years ago 4

Some of the prices for certain games and or systems are just totally off. This site would be efficient and actually correct if it removed amazon and others from the pricing info and included buy it now sold listings instead of just auctions. If your trying to price a game off of sold ebay auctions thenyou will notice the price is all over the place or sometimes at best close, while sold buy it now prices are fairly consistent. If ebay sold auction listings, and sold buy it now listings were the only factors this site might actually be worth paying for. Also adding gamestop new and used prices would be a good idea.

We only use eBay sold listings for our data. Amazon is listed as a reference, but we only use them if there has never been a recorded eBay sale (basically never).

Marking as 'completed' because it has been like this since 2013 or so.

using both would be helpful as both can be all over the place depending on date and time, shipping etc

With new marketplaces constantly available and eBay no longer being where most serious collector sell, can we add at least one more verified seller for reference? So far, Mercari has had listings and sales for most items in my collection and wishlist that are missing prices or have obviously bad pricing data, IE: Skylander's Double Trouble, which is definitely not worth $60 loose. More reference points would greatly help the system correct these errors by reducing the effect of 1 bad price on an average. We could further reduce the error by building a step in your calculator that dismisses the highest and lowest price before computing, granted there have been enough sales to dump the extremes to find a true average.

I've fixed that double trouble price.  THere were some "Royal" variant sales in with the base ones which inflated the price.

Regarding the other marketplaces, we would like to add other sites too.  We are actively working with a few new ones for high end trading and sports cards.  I will reach out to Mercari and see if they can provide us the information we need to add their sales as well.
