Allow comparison of ownership rates across categories

mikey 5 days ago • 0

tl;dr: I'd like to view my collection by category, rather than item - and have the % of each category owned included in that view.

Apologies in advance for the long-winded description, but I'm having trouble describing the idea, so I feel it's necessary to explain what I'm trying to achieve. I really appreciate your patience and really commend the dedication you show to your user-base. Thanks for this great product :)

I love that it's possible to track the % owned (what I'm referring to as: `ownership rate`) within a particular category or sub-category (I don't know whether specific sets, consoles and the like are thought of as categories or sub-categories - or whether that makes a difference at all). I know this feature is years old by now, but honestly it's something I have only noticed relatively recently.

So far, my collecting hasn't really been focused in any way. I just sort-of buy what I like - mainly across video games and Pokemon cards, but without much thought as to whether the purchase will bring me closer to a complete collection within the respective category or sub-category.

Recently, however, I've been entertaining the idea of a more focused approach, in which I would only make purchases within a particular category or sub-category, until I've reached 100% ownership rate in that particular category or sub-category.

This then begs the question: Which category or sub-category should I choose? To help answer this question, I think I'd be great to have a high-level view of my collection; one which shows the ownership rate of each category or sub-category side-by-side.

For instance: Considering the category of Pokemon cards; a view which displays not the individual cards in a set, but instead displays the sets in which you own cards, as well as the ownership rate for each of those sets.

While writing this, it occurs to me that there is potentially more that could be done with a higher-level view of one's collection, but I don't want to bog-down the request (The scope-creep is real!).

Thanks for letting me share the idea with you :)
