Allow reporting older eBay sales

Anonymous 3 weeks ago updated 3 weeks ago 2

I understand that older eBay sales are not allowed to be reported due to the listing being deleted by eBay. The pictures and description of the item being thus unavailable for review. That being said, I don't see why we couldn't, even then, report a listing based solely on its title. The review of the sale could then be conducted based also on its title.

As an example of sales that are obviously misclassified but sadly cannot be reported, take new Arctic White Game Boy Advance systems sales:

  • "2012-05-27    Nintendo Game Boy Advance Arctic Handheld System with 5 GAMES"
    • is obviously a bundle and should be deleted;
  • "2021-08-02    Nintendo Game Boy Advance White Handheld System Working Brand New Batteries"
    • "Working" and "Brand New Batteries" indicate that this was not a NIB system;
  • "2021-10-13    ¤ Nintendo Game Boy Advance White ¤ New Lens Working Console Handheld System"
    • "New Lens" and "Working" indicate once again that the advertised Game Boy was not new.

Ideally, a user who comes across these listing could report them just like any other listing, and the report could then be reviewed the same way. What do you think?

Thank you.  I've deleted those sales now.

We don't allow reporting on older sales because the eBay listing will be removed.  Many listings were being reported where there was no way to validate the accuracy.  These ones are obvious from the title, but most of the sales mistakes are not obvious from the title so we found that we were spending lots of time processing sales when there was no way to validate the information anymore.

I do appreciate your feedback on this though.  I'll keep this issue open to see if other users agree.

Thanks.

Since the underlying issue seems to be the time-intensiveness of the sale reviewing process, I have no doubt that this change can be implemented once the reviewing process has been expedited in some ways. Some other users have suggested interesting ways of dealing with this issue so there is hope!
