Referral/Incentive for new, successful signups with a history showing they have regularly been utilized since account creation

As my header states, I think it would be beneficial for those in charge of Pricecharting to give some type of referral reward/bonus or incentive for people who encourage and successfully have their friend/family signup for and regularly use Pricecharting. Also, I suggest that you don't minimize the referral so small that it's not enticing in fear of scams or greed but instead make the referral contingent on how often or regularly the "new" member uses Pricecharting. For example the incentive could be 3 months of retailer benefits(for both newbie & OG members) if the new member successfully signs up and regularly uses Pricecharting for no less than 3 months with no more than a week of absence from logging in. Or maybe just do a lottery of any of the Retailer ONLY benefits to be randomly rewarded(or spun on a cool wheel sent to you in a reward follow up email) after 6 weeks of continuous logins with no more than 48 hours without a login, or maybe a new member has to add 'X' amount of items to their collection and after adding 100 items or maybe $xxxx in value to their collection and they must add an item one every 24 hours till the goal is met.I feel that these options w weed out those just trying to make a quick buck or scam price charting and take advantage of the opportunity to sample some paid benefits.

I'm sure you could be thinking, "why would we offer the opportunity to sample when people already pay to subscribe? So why would I create a referral for a program giving stuff away?". The answer is simple, to this day word of mouth(no matter if it's read online in a blog, sent in an email or text or truly relayed in the ultra rare in person Convo) is the best form of advertisement! As a matter of fact I decided to request this feature because I ran into an old buddy who asked if my bf and I were into Pokemon cards, I told him heck yeah. A few minutes of talking about cards, pricing and ebay I name drop Pricecharting and say that's how I keep track of both mine and my dudes cards. Our friend never heard about it and said to text him but before I did I checked for some type of referral link and I can't find one. Now I'm going to send my referral for y'all anyway because I truly enjoy what you do here but sure, I wouldn't mind a kickback for spreading the good word. I bet there are more people than not whom would hype PC up so much that the other people would ask for the details whipping out their phone right there and without an app and incentive could convince even the most nerdy and socially awkward to enlighten a Mom in her 40's with kids in tow on where she can get this miracle app that could help her kid self sufficiently search for Pokemon prices without asking her to check ebay and her nervously lingering over him fearful he may see something unacceptable on ebay NOT for a young child.

Matter of fact something similar happened to me already, I was waiting to trade in something at game stop once when a Mo was asking questions to a very new, very overwhelmed and extremely nervous employee who didn't know head from tails about cards. So I answered all things Pokemon and bantered prices with a 10 yr old for 20 min while I waited. At the end of the convo suggested they use Pricecharting and the Mom pulled out her iphone checking the app store and after that being unsuccessful she asked me to type it in her safari and bookmark it for her, so that at minimum TWO people I have successfully signed up on Pricecharting, imagine how much more could be done with just a little bit of inspiration?? Imagine how many others think about telling their friend but don't because of there not being any incentive behind it could drive tons more traffic and successfully sign people up if they had some type of exclusive incentive (oh! New idea, paid subscribers could get a BETTER incentive then free members as to increase the interest in being a paid member when joining the app. Boom!). And just like I have freely and spontaneously shared throughout this post, there is so much room for imagination, creativity and reward with little to no risk at all.

I genuinely look forward to what you come up with, I know it will be another successful addition to an already amazing product. Just remember Customers are like Pokemon, Gotta Catch em all.

Thank you for those referrals.  We do value word of mouth.

I'd love to have a referral program at some point and help compensate people for sending users to our site.  Since most of the site is free for 99% of users, we'd probably only be able to compensate for paid referrals.  We wouldn't have the financial resources to compensate people for users who don't earn us anything.

Your idea to maybe just give free months of premium could work though for just sending free users to the site (or a certain number or something like that).

I've made some notes about this in our existing notes for a referral program.  Hopefully we are able to launch such at thing in the future.
